Cord blood immune cells
T Cells and NK Cells from Cord Blood
Immune cells taken from cord blood behave differently from adult blood cells: they have never met an infection, so they are less worn down and tend to grow better in culture. That makes them a common starting point for off-the-shelf cell therapies.
Where to start
Which one do you need?
Start here if you are building an allogeneic, off-the-shelf therapy and want a young, uniform starting population.
What is true of all of them
- Both are cryopreserved and selected using immunomagnetic separation.
- Cord blood donors have not been exposed to cytomegalovirus, which removes a source of variation you get with adult donors.
- Research and cGMP formats are documented.

Working on an allogeneic programme?
Cord blood is not automatically the right source. Tell us what the process has to do and we will tell you whether cord or adult blood fits.
